Hot Off the Sewing Machine!!!

 IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT McCALL'S 5977 IS OOP (OUT OF PRINT). 

 

Okay, I've been sewing all day for clients, so at the end of the day, I just wanted a little something for me...it's very satisfying to throw something  in there for me!

I made McCall's 5977. I did make some changes: I eliminated the jabots and ruffles. I just wanted a plain top... I needed to make good use of this piece  of remnant fabric that I had left over from another top I made. I,also, added front/back neck facings instead of the fabric binding, then I just serged and turned under the armhole seams...very quick project. Oh, the other thing I did was to eliminate the bust dart. I gathered the excess fabric instead. I love this top. I'm pleased with the outcome of the use of this fabric!

I made this top once before but it I made it too big. That was the other adjustment I made. Before, I cut a size 10 at the top and a 14 through the hip area. This time I cut a size 8 at the top and a 10 through the hip area~ perfect!

 This is what the first top was gonna look like, but it ended up like this,

 

I will definitely be making more of this top...I love it!!

Your top is is really nice..very summery. I couldn't find the pattern on BMV club. Is it a new release or an outdated pattern ? I'd love to make it for the warmer weather.

@ Jan and Jenise~ It does'nt give much more room than the dart...a little more ease. Since it was a knit I didn't want the dart, I wanted it to remain seamless, thanks!

@ MAD14kt and Jo Ann~ It's a great wardrobe builder. And, I've had this piece of remnant laying around for a while. Trying to deplete the stash. Speaking of stash, you all look forward to a Stash Busting Sew-a-long coming soon!!!!

Top is really cute...i love the gathers instead of the darts.  I have a hard time getting anything to fit the bust area.  Does the gathers give more bust room?

Great use of a remnant!It will surely look good without the ruffles and fluffy sleeves and sit nice under a jacket. I can see why you would make more!
